We have been doing Speco and Luxon. I like the speco a little more for the ease of setting the remote. Both work well and are priced pretty good as well. We just put on a system with 6 cams and an 8 channel 500 GB DVR (Luxon) Working great and the owner can look in any time.

I have installed several Digimerge DHU500 series with 16-channels and I like their remote access software a lot. They have good pricing and also have dozens of drivers for pan/tilt/zoom protocols. As we have discussed here, Dedicated Micros and Speco now have DVRs that support remote MAC clients. To my knowledge, everyone else uses Microsoft "Active X" controls. If MAC clients are important, this is something to consider.

The Everfocus EDVR9 I installed has been rock-solid. The PTZ works perfectly and the system has not been turned off now for about 6 months. I like the Digimerge software a lot and have been buying a lot of their indoor/outdoor IR 480 line cameras.

Everfocus has a new ECOR DVR that has been bullet proof for me so far. XXXX that's where I've gotten my cameras from. I like the Pelco brand as well but expensive and I only install and quote it out for government customers, probably over kill for you.

I saw those ECORs at the supply house last week. Looked a lot better than the EDVR which I had some issues with in the past.

Jeff, what was the problem with the EDVR? Just curious.

First unit would not even boot up. Returned it to the supply house and the replacement had a password on it and we could not use it. Third one was finally the charm.
