I am having a brain fart, Trying to hookup directv output into 70V page amp. I have it working but the volume is very low. Using 16/2 speaker wire and 10W volume control. Not sure but may need to install coax shielded wire or another amp??/any ideas...

Is the DirecTV output at line or mic level? Is the amplifier input mic or line level? Is the volume control turned up, wired correctly and working properly? Does the amplifier perform normally when feeding another input source into it?

Sounds like you either have the amp output wired wrong or not enough signal from the DTV unit. What type of inputs does the amp have?

I am using the speaker rca output on the Directv box with speaker wire to the aux input on the 70 V amp. 150' away. The muzak sound great but the tv volume even at full is too low. Do I need to rerun.

Having the model number of the amp would really help so we know what type of inputs it has. You need a line-level to __???___ adapter.

Anything going to an input should be shielded wire not speaker wire.
Are you using the same input as the muzak?
Do you know that the DTV output is working?

not using the correct shielded wire, need to replace and maybe adding a premixer/amp to the bar.

Batman, we really need the info that others have asked for in the above posts. Specifically:

1. The output on the DirectTV box - are you certain it is a "speaker" output? An RCA jack implies a "line-level" audio output, intended to connect to a high-impedance input on an amp or TV.[1]

2. The AUX input - is it a line level input? If it is, then you could plug the DirectTV box in directly using a shielded audio cable - but not a 150 foot cable. That is about ten times too long.

[1] High, meaning much higher impedance than an 8 ohm speaker, but not as high as an input intended for a microphone. The type of jack here also provides a clue... RCA, XLR, 1/4" phone, screw terminals? The make and model of the paging amp would really help.

The output on Directv is rca linelevel, I have been told by directv that I will need shielded cabel and preamp/mixer inorder to get this to work. I am waiting for customer approval and will be trying to do this.
