I must be brain dead. Can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here. It's not rocket science, and this system worked for years before the lightning took out the Nortel CICS and the paging, but I have tried everything and can't get this ?*!!#$ to work.
Nortel CICS phone system with page audio output connected to a Bogen TBA-20A amp. This is connected to single Bogen SPT15A horn. There is also a Bogen TG-4B tone generator tied into this so that contact closure from the Aux Ringer contacts from the phone system will cause the horn to make a loud signal for incoming phone calls.
I have replaced the CICS and phone functions are working properly. I replaced the TBA-20A and TG-4B with a Bogen C-20 amp and TG4C tone generator. There is also a new SPT15A horn.
I've connected just the amp and horn to the phone system. When I page from a phone, I can hear audio with my butt set on the C-20's Tel input terminals. I can't hear anything coming out on the Com and 25V terminals, with my butt set. I had the horn on these terminals also and heard nothing.
Haven't tried to see if I can make the tone generator work yet. One problem at a time. It should be a simple connection to make a page amp work. I know it's not the same as the old amp, but a C-20 ought to page out. ?????
Thanks for any help. Jim

That amp has volume control for the Tel input also VOX circuit on the rear of amp. Try plugging into the Aux input and see if you get anything.

Do you mean put the audio, coming from the ksu, into the Aux input? I'll try that.
I did turn the rear Tel and VOX controls both to about midway.
I'll let you know. Thanks. Jim

Go here and get the manual. https://www.bogen.com/ Then leave a copy on site for the next poor guy!

Sorry for sounding so silly, but Bogen tends to set their volume controls to ZERO straight out of the factory. Please set the potentiometer to the middle before testing.

I did notice that the control was at zero. I turned it up.
Should I be able to read any voltage on the Com and 25V terminals? At idle, or during a page? I get nothing.
Going to find an rca plug tonight to try out Merritt's suggestion of using Aux input.

I'd think you would have 25 volts or more AC during a page...

Jim with a signal going through the amp at full volume you would get about 25 volt AC on the output. You should be able to hear the input signal with your butt set if you do then its something with the amp.

Well, that settles it. I can hear audio with my butt set going into the Tel terminals at the amp. Volume control up, vox control up, down, tried 'em all. No audio and nothing measured with voltmeter on Com and 25V or 70V.
I'll be calling my supplier in the morning.
Thanks for your help gentlemen. Jim

The replacement amp arrived today. Hooked it up on the bench and it works like a champ! Wasted a lot of time on something I should have checked out first.
