Hi guys. First off, thanks for maintaining the forum, it has been a great help to me. I finally decided to join so I can help out folks as well.
I haven't been able to find any -recent- posts relating to this so I hope someone can help.
We just purchased an IDS 84 system "as-is" off ebay and unfortunately the battery gave up the ghost during shipping. As a result the VMS option has vanished. I've found a couple posts saying options can simply be "enabled" at level10 and others saying they are encrypted downloads after version 8. Level9 doesn't seem to have access to the options. Can anyone send me the level10 password so I can check things out? Also, can anyone give me a definitive yes or no on the options question?
Software version is: 42/84 8.2.4 07/30/98
Thanks again for this great resource!

It takes more than level 10 password to enable options. Sorry. Mike

On an 84 I don't believe the options were encrypted downloads. On the CPU card yes.

If using a VXC card it will turn options on for you.
Good Luck!!
If all else fails, use a BFH.

Ok, so it takes more than a level 10 password to enable them, but they aren't encrypted downloads?
The local Executone guys want an arm and a leg to reprogram the thing, so I need to find out how to do this on my own. If the options are already on the board, how do I enable them?
Also, the voicemail is an external VX2 box using in-band signalling.

ALL the Options on ANY Executone IDS systems are Downloads.
There is NO WAY to enable them thru any level of programing.
The 84 was a Hybrid system....You can add an I/O port expansion card on the CPU to give you an additional 422 and 232 port. You would still need the VMS and VMI options to make the VXII 'talk' to the comm port.
Unfortunalty, There are not too many people out there that still have ' access ' to the Downloads.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..

Alright, well that answers my question. I guess the next question would be, does anyone out there have "access" to the downloads? If so, is there any chance I can get ahold of them and download this one feature to my system? Since this system originally came with this option, I would assume it's perfectly legal to re-install it. Any advice or connection would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Someone in another thread said to get in contact with Aable communications....I've ordered both a power supply and 108 cabinet from them....they are VERY reasonable, quick, and helpful. They seem to be the Executone experts at this point in time.

And velotech - your system did NOT originally come with VMS option. It was ALWAYS an add-on. The deal was that it was at no charge if you purchased an Executone voicemail system and had a significant charge if it was not an Executone voicemail system. The folks at Aable should be able to help. Mike

Well I contacted Aable and they want too much in my opinion. Also, they aren't willing to sell me the software so I can download it myself if the battery fails again. Any ideas?
