Hoping somebody may know the answer to this one. We have an Inter-Tel Axxess sytem w/about 100 lines. Today we have a fax machine call about every 15 minutes (sometimes sooner.) So far they are coming in on unused extensions and then fowarded to the front desk.
Could someone be using an autodialer hooked up to a fax to do their evil bidding?

Bullcube, You are correct. They use some kind of pedictive dialer software. They are trying to make this illegal. They usually block caller ID so you can not tell who is calling.

If all else fails, use a BFH.

I have had that happen to me b-4 and what JJ said is what it is, the idiots get the wrong # and continually fax cause it doesn't hear the cng tone, what I did was finally transfer it to the fax machine then called the SOB's and had then use the right #.

Do you have SLT ports on your system with fax or modems? I have seen this happen internal with employees not dial 9 from fax or PC modem.

Yup we got those, but they are usually easy to figure out where the call came from... gererally they show up as an IC Call. I think I'll try test-ok's idea.
Thanks.

one similar nightmare is a modem that is set to autodial. i had one customer who was getting 30-50 calls a day from a coin phone modem.(often they are set-up to notify if the coin tray is full)some idiot programmed the wrong number into a significant number of
tels. causing much angst. we solved it by blocking all 800 calls from the area code.
