Our receptionist terminal (where I also do all my station programming) is stuck in night mode. She tried turning the terminal off and on, but now it’s just a blank screen with a blinking under-bar in the top left corner. Any suggestions on getting the terminal back online… Thanks for the help.

I've been searching the forums and found this question was already asked, but the answer by pvj: "If you hit escape do you get anything?Like a disclaimer screen asking for a password?
First place to check would be the B screen make sure the ports are installed and the O screen on the Bscreen for the operator setup." unfortunately, doesn't quite work for this particular case. The only thing I get on my screen is a blinking under-bar and the Esc key doesn't do anything when I push it. Bummer.

Reset the phone system. It should come back up. If it does not you could have a blown com port.

Good Luck!!

If all else fails, use a BFH.

Thanks for the help JJ. If you don’t mind me asking, how would I reset the phone system? Do I need to power the system down and then restart it, like a cold start? Or, use one of the other 3 com ports and HyperTerminal in. In which case, I’m still not sure how to reset the phone system. Sorry, I’m such a newbie to this system.

Could it also be a keyboard issue? I do have one working operator terminal, I could swap the keyboards, but I'm afraid I might bring our only working station down...

JJ, do you mean reset the Port or whole Phone System? I don't know either, so any info you can share would be most helpful.

Restart the phone system by removing AC power for 10 seconds. If you have a 228 cabinet, flip the rocker switch on right-hand power supply. If 108 cabinet flip the rocker switch on front of power supply.
Have you restarted the terminal? Rocker switch on right-hand side of terminal...
If still doesn't work, move terminal wires on frame to spare port. IMPORTANT NOTE: Ports 1 and 2 are RS-232, Ports 3 & 4 are RS-422. Most op terminals were set up as RS422. So, if you're on port 3, move to port 4. If you do this, will require change in B screen Operator section - change operator A from port 3 to 4.

Thanks mForrence and JJ. UPDATE: The problem ended up being the Port. I reset the port by cycling through the speed (bits per sec) back to 9600. That brought the other operator terminal back online. I checked for the port by going to System Programming; selecting O, then “I” to increment to the proper operator. Once I had the port number, I reset the speed in System Programming by going to the port and hitting return until I was on speed. One beep and the terminal was back up.
