I never worked for Bell Charlie, so all we ever did was use Harris lamp extenders to make them work at all! 600 feet of 26 gauge house cable feeding a department with 25 stations. Voltage drop "did become an issue and we were working on it".
You won't be running too many lights on your tree with a Princess transformer, that's for sure.

Amazing Ed, I was almost sure you would pick up on my sarcasm of the princess phone transformer trying to run Christmas tree lights. I noticed your post about trying to find the hidden transformer in the house. It brought back memories. I have found a few in some places you wouldn't think to look. It makes me laugh that the phone company charged 50 cents a month on the bill to light the princess phone lite. Such a deal! Bell System Property "Not For Sale"
About 15 years ago I found a customer who was renting one of those transformers for a Buzzer. The phone company wanted it back. I called AT&T and laughed at them. I installed a shoe box and buzzer with talk battery and a couple of 6tbn sets that said, "Bell system property not for sale." Ed, the little restaurant is still using this today! I'll never get them to upgrade.

"Bell system property not for sale." Ended 1-1-84, but I'm sure you know that. As far as lamps go, there was a charge for lamps, you could have a key system without lamps if you wanted, for less money. I don't remember what that charge was and we only had one cheap customer that had no lamps.

Thanks Bill,
"I don't remember what that charge was and we only had one cheap customer that had no lamps."
I have also heard of customers doing that and your knowledge adds to the history of 1A1 and 1A2. As few people today would ever realize this was a billing policy with MAMA BELLIE

I was watching one of the great movies of my time last night, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Guess what phones they had? The principal and secretary had black 6 button 1A2, the restaurant had the white wall mount 1A2! Gotta love the line buttons and hold lamp!

Well, I think that I have finally been stumped. I have been searching my warehouse for weeks trying to track these housings down and can't seem to locate them. I know that I had them, but it appears that they are gone. Sorry for the long delay in responding. You might want to go ahead and take the brown housings that Station Specialties has available and have them painted.
