I won't be at all surprised if Ed can help with this one as well... ;-)

I have need for at least two outer housings for Western Electric 2830-series 10 or 20-button desk phones. Along with said housings, I would also need the color-matched handsets and handset cords.

I don't need faceplates at all -- Just the outer housings and handsets, hopefully in good condition.

I'll try Mike Sandman if no one pops up here.

Thanks much.

Ed the wipers on my step switch are getting worn. Do you have any new ones? You just never cease to amaze me.

I have some brown 10btn ITT housings. I also have a new ITT 10 button in the box that I would love to get rid of. I think the housings between ITT and WE will match up. Ed could verify this

Hi, Ed,

One green, one brown, one black, if possible (I seem to recall that brown was not a standard WeCo color, though). Let me know, please.

Station Specialties,

Yes, the housings match up. ITT pretty much copied Western's design. If Ed comes up short, I'll bug you about it.

Thanks to you both.

You are correct, WECO didn't make them in brown. I know that I don't have any brown ones, but it appears that Station Specialties does. I am sure that I have black ones, but I'll have to check on the green. Yes, they are interchangable with ITT housings.

The green color is going to be a hard one to find.

Ive got a brown one out there and a beige. I thought I had more but I may have tossed them in the trash.

1A2 lives! I think it's on a comeback. Now I'm kicking myself for all the 620 panels and shoe boxes and grave stones that have tossed out over the years. I don't dare to throw this stuff out now. Those 400d cards I sold on ebay for five bucks each... I must have short changed myself. Just the other day I threw out some tie mod keys sets then some one need them. I can't win. I'm going to start hoarding 1A2 lamps.. and someday I will sell them for big money!

SS, if your luck is like mine, those lamps will go to the grave with you and your widow will decide not to pay the light bill! John C.

Those lamps where how the phone company would charge the customer. They where billed on how many lamps where lit on the key sets. Years later When I worked at BU on Comm ave on key equipment I found out that BU's telecom department was still using the same billing method for the various departments charges.

I found this out buy mistake when someone asked me to wire a number to various sets in an office.

Now, who of us have ever changed the lamp voltage higher so those lamps would burn out faster for a service ticket? Hey ed can you test and verify this old 1a2 billing scheme. Im still going to save those lamps to make Christmas tree lights with a princess phone transformer that the phone company wants back because it says Bell company property not for sale. javascript:void(0)
