A week or so ago I plugged in one of my 17 phones into the same line that the KSU uses for line 1 but simply not connected to the 1A2, which was a rotary phone, and started to dial a friend, but then the keyset in the office started to ring, so I flashed the hookswitch only to get dial tone. I am assuming the CO ringing voltage cycle is similar or almost identical to Pulse dialing, and that the interrupter was receiving "ringing voltage"?

Your assumption is basically correct. 10 pps dialing looks like sorta square wave ringing and once DTMF became prevalent, the telcos weren't too worried about p/d ringer detection. John C.

Is it the only one of your many phones that does it?

I have also dialed pulse on other phones with the same outcome.

Bobby, I think the R/D pulses fooled the 400 line card in the KSU into believing that 20 Htz ringing was coming in. Reversing bell leads won't fix that. Tho' I suppose it wouldn't hurt to reverse T & R at the CO port in the KSU. More likely, a different model/brand of 400 card might clear the problem. In the end, the wiring is 'wrong' in front of the KSU and the Telco would have walked away back when they took care of the 1A2 systems.

That did the trick! Thanks! The KTU in the Line 1 slot was an ITT.
