Hi all,

Once again, I am here for your wisdom pertaining to an e-pay offer. I found a Western Electric 424C card for dial intercom, and wondered if I should purchase it. The item number is 310181214207.

I understand that the forum rules don't allow for price discussion so I wont mention any prices, but I was wondering if I should consider this item or pass on it. (For instance, if the card is notorious for having issues or something.)

Thank you in advance!

I think that I am begining to understand my KTU a little bit. I figured out where to put the CO lines, and I have removed the two unneeded ITT 400 cards and left the 2 WECO cards in place. I am getting anxious to actually start to do some work on this project!

Thanks again for the help and advice.

Joe

It is a rotary dial intercom card for 19 stations. There was an optional card that would allow it to be used in mixed touch tone and rotary environments, but my nomenclature fails me. The later 494A solid state card took care of this with just one slot. It must be installed in an appropriate mount, such as a 642A modular panel.

I'd pass on it if I were you. Even for the pros, this card was not friendly to mountings that weren't factory-wired for it. Even if the card was free, you'd be in for quite a large task to use it. It is basically a matrix of relay contacts if you are curious as to how it functions.

You should keep an eye out for a Melco KC-9, 19 or a Tone Commander TC or RT1900. They are much more friendly to the pros and the not-so-pros alike.

Thank you, Ed.

Advice taken. The 424C is removed from my watch list!

Best,

Joe
