Jeff, most members (including you) are quite courteous. It's the visitors that we 'bail out' that never acknowledge that we saved their bacon, let alone offer thanks. That's what this thread has evolved into. It's probably time to stop beating this dead horse this time, though.

I am very new here, but agree with some that the interrupter would be the culprit.
Willing to share what I've learned in my past 40 years dealing with both ends of the phone line. Competent (Ihope) on Norstar, competent on Harris 20-20.

No, read it again. He said lights go out, hold works; therefore no A1 problem.
Personally, I couldn't care less what he found, since he refuses to acknowledge my assistance. And if and when he returns, he'll get "silent battery" from me.
My new rule: never offer to help someone who uses question marks at the end of statements.

Arthur I agree about "Silent Battery" should apply to a lot of post here. I just thought that some time we get bad info. from the OP that we tend to miss the obvious. Also look at my time just a little sleepy.

How about giving the guy the benefit of the doubt? He could have had a heart attack or got killed in a car accident. More likely he got electrocuted. Anyway, I appreciate all the sage advice and it was a very interesting thread even though the OP never followed through. I feel as if I learned something from it.
