The phones should NOT be on pairs 8, 9, or 10. Forget what you think the instructions mean. You are reading them, but not understanding them.

Pairs 3, 4, 5, etc, are the SIGNAL pairs. You cannot use them to DIAL anything.

It is apparent that you are confused. Please re-read my message posted at 20:14 on 7 Nov. I have explained in my previous message exactly what this unit can do, how it does it, and how to wire it.

If the unit you have does not have a label on it, please refer to the Ebay link I provided. You do not need to refer to the practice, nor do you need to send us any information from it. We are all very familiar with this unit, and we can easily walk you through the proper methods of installation, but you must start from the beginning, with help from us.

Which type of telephone are you using? This unit requires TWO PAIRS to every telephone, assuming single line sets, and three pairs to each telephone, assuming that you want the intercom to appear on a key of a key telephone set. Talk pair, connected to pins 1 & 2, and Signal pair, connected to any pair starting with white/brown.

A telephone call will quickly straighten this out.

PLEASE, tell us you are NOT using the 110 Volts from the AC line directly! Aside from the fact that is DANGEROUS and probably destructive, IT WON'T RING THE BELLS! Wrong frequency!

He does not use the term GENERATOR, even after having been instructed to do so. I suspect that the key system power supply has a generator output, possibly labeled "110 Vac."

As usual, questions, asked in an obscure way, answers, in good faith, gentle guidance in usage of the proper terms, followed by more non-sequitors, followed by detailed instruction, down to the molecular level, followed by hand waving and wrong suppositions, followed by continued use of the wrong terms, followed by more questions...

I just had a very nice chat with Don. I apologized for being short tempered with him on the forum. I explained how the system works, and how it needs to be wired, and he will be experimenting this evening and will let us know how it works out.

After speaking with Arthur on teh phone I understand what you all were trying to tell me.

Sam yes the 8th pair or intercom # 3 has 110v when dialed with nothing else on the block.

Lightinghorse, no I am not using the 110 directly. no worries there.

I just had the phones tied to the ringing side of the RT 1900 as well as the talk side. so I could go off hook and talk but not ring, Aurthur made it clear about having to corret the second pair of each line for each phone to have its own position or station on the block to enable ringing.

Now I am looking at the inside of a ITT ITT-2500-VOE 250044-VOE-20MC - at the black/yellow and once I figure out how to make the bell ring I will hook it up and give it a try.

if anyone would like to tackle that modification I am willing to let you brow beat me some more...

A cheap and (very) dirty way to get the 2500 set working (until one of has the time to pull the prints) - remove all the bell wiring from the terminals inside the phone. Tie the black & yellow leads from the mounting cord to the red & black bell leads. Tape the rest of the bell leads up. Connect the black & yellow leads to one of the signalling pairs on the RT (8,9, etc.).

That should work, at least for a test.

And write down where you removed them from incase you want to use the 2500 for a SLT again down the road.
