I have gone through my entire manual and can't seem to find information on programing a Ring Down or "Hotline phone". I need to set a phone so that when it is picked up it automatically calls another extension. If someone knows what page in the Manual this is on or how to do the programing for it please let me know.

Thanks
JRF

If I recall...I think You do something in the 'primeline ' section of the phone timers...

IF, I remember, I'll post back.

I tried to put the extention in the prime line fiel however we use 4 digit extension and the prime line filed only alows 3 numbers to be entered. I can't put the last two of the extension because it would consider it a co line.

Any other sugestions?

Below is copy/paste from manual. Looks like Trunk/group or system speed dial only.
Mike

5.7 Prime Line
An extension may be programmed to automatically access a particular CO line or trunk group as soon as the phone is
taken off–hook. The actual line to be used (or trunk group) is programmed as the Prime Line. Determine the outside line
or trunk group to be used by the station and enter this number. Individual outside lines are entered by their actual line
number.
NOTE
If Prime Line is programmed for a single line telephone, the single line telephone cannot access
any other system features.
42, 84, 108, And 228 CPU
In the 42, 84, 108, and 228, trunk groups are entered as 23 plus the trunk group number (1 through 9) or 240 for
group 10. For example, if a station is making outside line calls using trunk group 2 , enter 232 for the Prime Line.
In the 42, 84, 108, and 228, LCR dial tone may also be accessed by entering 250.
ECPU
In ECPU software versions, trunk groups are entered as 46 plus the trunk group number (1 through 9) or 470 for
group 10. Beginning in software version 432–3.0, groups 11 through 19 are accessed by entering 471 through
479. LCR dial tone may be accessed by entering 480.
ACPU
In ACPU software versions, trunk groups are entered as 9 plus the 2–digit trunk group number (01 through 20).
LCR dial tone may be accessed by entering 900.
5.8 Prime Line to a System Speed Dial Number
Minimum Software Requirements
CPU 42 84 108 228 ECPU ACPU
Version N/A N/A N/A N/A N/A 6.6
N/A = Feature not available using this CPU
This feature allows the system to dial one of the first 99 System Speed Dial numbers when you go off–hook on a telephone.
You can program an extension number to dial a System Speed Dial number when the station is taken off–hook
by setting the Prime Line field to 7 plus the 2–digit speed dial bin number from 01 to 99. For example, to dial System
Speed Dial number 1 when a station is taken off–hook, program the extension number’s Prime Line field to 701.
NOTE
This feature can only access the first 99 System Speed Dial bin numbers. This feature is NOT

I read that in my manual and I can't believe that the IDS can't do a simple ring down to another extension. Just need to have a phone when it goes off hook dial an extension.

Thanks
Josh

With some external hardware it can be done but not the system by itself.

No ringdown where setup in the IDS platform.

Just use a Viking ringdown unit on two co line ports and give those phone prime line for that co.

Good Luck!!

Try this one ringdown unit wired to 2 trunks.
Program prime line of each trunk to your phones.
This system was used at Best Buy stores up here in Boston.

If the originating phone is analog then all you need to do is hook up the ring down (viking unit) to the analog phone and connect the other end of the ring down unit to the co port of the 228 and assign ringing of the co port to the desired phone(s).
If both phones are digital then you would need 2 co ports on the system.
Assign prime line to one or both digital sets depending on if you want 1 way or 2 way ringdown.
