I have an Executone model 64 phone system. I have a couple of employees that are frustrated. If they are on the phone, another incoming caller gets a busy signal. How can that second incoming call get forwarded to another extension or voicemail?? Thank you very much for the help.

I'm guessing you have an Executone Medley system...is that correct? M64 is the model of the phone not the system. M64 works on all the Executone 'IDS' systems and on the Medley. I'm assuming you're saying that when someone attempts to TRANSFER a call to them they're getting a busy..??

That is correct. Or, if someone dials in on their direct line, the second person gets a busy signal, instead of being redirected to another extension or voicemail. Yeah, it is a Medley system, my inexperience is showing. Thanks for any suggestions you may have.

Originally posted by fishmkt: if someone dials in on their direct line, the second person gets a busy signal, This will happen on just about any phone system, the ' work-around ' on Your system (Medley) is to have the callers dial the Main number( usually there are a few numbers that Hunt with this one) that is answered by the auto attendant and have them dial your ext, then, if you are on a call, it will follow the busy/na path. eg: voicemail
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..

How many direct lines does each person have? If they only have one and there is not a hunt group or rollover set up for each direct line then the second caller would get a busy. I agree with nonameyet that - if you have copper lines from the telephone company then it is best if callers dial the main telephone number and then get transfered to the appropriate person or department.
If your not having fun, go find something else to do.
