I was looking through the web and came across an article that was written by a wikipedia author about registered jacks, he must have been a college student because it sounded like a term paper... anyway, I have a WE 440C and wanted to modularize the phone. I was able to get the 8 conductor subset cord for the phone... wired it in and connected to a RJ45 jack. discovered through this article that I now have a RJ61 Jack. interesting... I didnt know it existed... so, now my phone is wired for a RJ61X service... if that means anything....

RJ refers to the wiring pattern used with the 8P8C jack. If wired for single-line data service, the modem's CO line is wired to pins 4 and 5.

If wired for four line voice service, the four CO lines are wired to pins 4 & 5; 3 & 6; 2 & 7 and 1 & 8 respectively.

If pairs are used for other functions, there are a few other RJ wiring patterns for these applications. RJ12 and RJ13 are examples of this.

It's been so long since I've dealt in RJ anything :-) RJ 11/14/25 21 and 61 plus the 568A and B and an occasional 48...even the morons know how to do 31x's.

12 & 13? When's the last time you had to interface key systems to 6-pin jacks? Oh, maybe inside the Beltway :-)

We still have a few 1A2 and Comkey customers, Carl. These jacks are rare, but they still exist at a few sites.
