I need to know what the difference is between the regular Coral cabinets and the High Density cabinets. Is there a different part number or possibly some kind of label or visual mark that I should look for?

Customer tells me that the Coral II cabinets had 2 different models, 1 standard model, and 1 high density model for the 24 port cards. Can someone please verify this for me?

Yes, it SHOULD say on the side of the cabinet whether its a high density cabinet. That simply means it can take the 24 port station cards rather than maxing out at the 16 port ones. It should say Coral II HD.

Ok, thanks for the advice. Looks like we actually have 3 different type of cabinets:
1. Coral 2
2. Coral 2 - 24P
3. Coral 2 - HD

Are the Coral - 24P KSUs also capable of running the 24 port station cards?

Hmmm, never seen a 24P. Easiest way is to count the anphenol connectors on the cabinet.

Here are the amphenol connector counts:
1. Coral 2 = 10
2. Coral 2 - 24P = 16
3. Coral 2 - HD = 16

So it looks like the 24P will support the 24 port cards. I've also checked the back plane and the 24P cabinet has some of the additional pins on the card connectors just like the HD cabinet.

Thanks for the help.

BTW 24P = HD

24P = can support 24 ports per card (24 SFT & 24 SLS)

HD = High Density, support 24 ports cards and HDC controller, not SVC,

The HD can be used with SVC24 card.
