We have an IPX 500 with 2 Exp. Cabinets. Filled with approx. 75 centrex lines and 120 of the 280D's. About once every month the system will start producing loud static across the handsets when trying to make or receive a call. (So loud you cant hear the other party. Tad says its the Telco. We have had vendor meets with Verizon. Originally the lines came in on copper and fiber. Verizon switched everything over to copper. We send the error code to Tad and they give us no answer. It takes a system reset to straighten everything out. Tad is now saying put a PRI in and that will take care of the problem. Customer says no. This has been going on for about a year now. Any suggestions

Out of curiosity, why would they have 75 copper lines anyway. It seems like it would be MUCH more cost effective to have a PRI.
Otherwise, I have seen static on lines from Verizon on an IPxOffice. Verizon swears it was not them. However, as soon as the lines were switched to another carrier (still on copper) it cleared up the problem. Have you tried switching out the CO card?

It is a County Admin. Building and each dept. has their own group of published numbers and pay for them out of their own budget. This how it was explained to me. They won't even listen to us about changing service or providers. Apparently the County Administrator is friends with the Verizon Sales Girl. Imanine That!!! The thing with the static is when it starts it happens within the system also (phone to phone)

I would certainly look at getting a new IPX500 Base cabinet or a new backplane. Maybe upgrade the eprom chips on the backplane. Make sure you rule out the IPX500 first, so no one can say you didn't investigate the PBX. Was this a problem with the old system before the IPX500 was installed?

Make sure to check your grounding on the system. Make sure you aren't getting something feeding back into it and that the covers are on to shield from RF.

I guess I should have mentioned we upgraded the eproms on the backplane, swapped out the MCP with new and changed the eproms on all of the trunk cards. We thought it might have been an rf problem. We had an electrician run a dedicated circuit for ac and a dedicated ground from his panel. All covers are on and the racks are also grounded. All lines go thru a primary Porta Systems 230V protector

Has anyome actually put a buttset to the lines to see if it's a CO or Tadiran issue? I take it the static is only on the CO ports and not internal calls?

We check the lines and hear static. We intercom between departments hear static. It is not card specific. It doesn't happen on one CO card or one particular station card. It only clears when we power down the switch. No Tadiran Tech we removed 8 Comdial systems and no problems existed like this. It's got me stumped.

Wow, you seem to have bookoo issues...
I would make sure you press Tadiran to do whatever it takes to make sure it is not them...
Verify the Ground wire is actually grounded well. Direct ground, not any tapped stuff.
