was curious if anyone has resized a ipx system and used AsciiWin to restore the database. would like to know if i can expect any issues. i did an export and noticed a couple of branches missing such as card list db and vfac init.

Yes. Things like being logged into ACD groups etc. ASCII is nothing more than an text overlay onto a re-sized system OR upgraded to a much later software level and/or new main processor. There will be little things everywhere depending how long your system has been up (little programming things people forget or are really specialized). Just be aware it isn't perfect. Normally, you are better off over-sizing a system (I always do) to avoid this. Better to add the memory cards now rather than go though this.

i have the extra memory and it was oversized, but now i have a limitation with boss groups. also i need to increase the number of call services since i will be using CSTA features pretty heavily. i did an export and found two branches missing. one was card list DB and the other public libraries. i tried the public again and it exported, but still no card list DB. i also tried asciiwin on another Tadiran and card list db wasn't there either. what has to be done prior to the import to get this aschiiwin to work?

Hmm, do you have the latest version? Quite honestly I simply send these things to Tadiran because they are so quirky even though we were trained on it and it's predecessor. Make sure to do a binary backup also. What's the limitation with the Boss groups?

think i found the problem. it exports the card list branch, but doesn't seem to like it when it imports it. needed to program it manually then run Asciiwin. limitation with boss groups is if you size for 1-512 you can have up to 6 calls ringing at the same time and only 3 if its 513-1000. i need the 6 and wish it could be higher. not sure what reasoning was in place when it was first sized. i tried it with the three and did a CFB to another boss group, but the call order out got screwy when it would forward into the 3rd group.

So, you are doing this virtually and not on a working system with cards in it? Ya, that's one of the first things they teach in class about the Boss groups. It's been that way forever.

If BG is the issue, just take a look at ELA groups.

The line-per-group limtaion is another story.

problem is you can't do a call pick up from ELA unless you have a button for each line.

You can bypass it by make all members as pickup group.
