Currently running an IDS 432 system and up until now our system has been set to reset at 3:00 AM. We are currently going to be testing being open 24 x 7 and need to set the System Reset to No since it will reset even if there are active calls.
I understand that when set to No the system will not reset unless there have been 3 straight hours of idle time. Since we may not ever experience 3 straight hours of idle time I wonder what the ramifications are of the system not resetting possibly for weeks on end and what my other options may be. Thanks very much.

The daily reset is just a software feature that's main purpose is to flush the scratchpad (temporary) memory ram so that if some garbage gets into this ram and causes problems/glitches a reset will start it over again.
Thanks PVJ, I figured it was something like that but I'm still wondering what kind of exposure I have if the scratchpad doesn't get flushed for a while and what the ramifications would be.
I'm assuming there's the possibility of an unstable system that would need to be reset manually?
Would a couple of days likely cause trouble? A couple of weeks? More?
I know there's probably not a hard and fast answer but I just want to have my ducks in a row when I present the potential risks to those that matter.
i once had an IDS 432 in a hospital that ran 24/7 and the system didn't seem to have any troubles from not being reset, however because it is an IDS you can never tell. Change it and let it run, if it develops a problem just change it back and inform everyone that they will be droped if on the phone at 3 am or what ever time you decide.
