I just now read about it at the star website. All I can say is "no surprise here" and hope that it's not too late for a turnaround. But they haven't really been able to accomplish much since the ION debacle; other than to ruin the lives of thousands of people. Then again, I'm a little bitter when it comes to this particular company.
I place my bet on a buyout by somebody.
There are some posts in the comments section of the Star saying Embarq should buy Sprint. Now that..... would be hilarious.
It never ceases to amaze me at how this industry splits itself up, buys itself back together, and then splits up again. I don't really follow it too much anymore, but isn't AT&T just about back to where they were before deregulation?
On that subject, I think there has been a lot of consumer benefit out of deregulation, but for the most part, I think I'd rather they'd of left it alone. Except of course I don't know if I'd be allowed to have my 1A2 if that were the case.
I got into an argument with somebody once, with my position being that deregulation was a bad move. Their comeback was: look at all the technological advances that have taken place since deregulation - that never would have happened if it was still just "Ma Bell" running the show. To which I pointed out that insignificant thing called "the transistor", and I don't think it's necessary for me to mention where that came from in this forum - which now (IMO) is the foundation of every technological advance that has come since it's invention; or for that matter, is yet to come. IMO, Bill Gates should have some part of his mansion dedicated to William Shockley/Bell Labs where he goes to worship, burn candles, or whatever at his extreme good fortune of having been born in the years after Mr. Shockley did the real work.
But all in all, I gotta say I'm glad to see Forsee gone.
Man, there I go rambling again. I can't even stay on one topic in my own posts.

One of my friends just got the axe at Sprint yesterday. Word is another 5K on the chopping block. I think this is the 6th round of layoffs in the last 6 years.

Hmmm I haven't heard anything about that. What department is he in? Hell, we've been hiring in the Operations department as we're still understaffed.

I'll check with him and let ya know - he's just a contractor, but was near his hire date.
You aren't by any chance the same Bob F who used to run operations out in O.P., are you?

It was some group called "messaging"... I have no idea where that falls in the org structure though.
