I thought that the small parish in Western LA was the last part of the US to get phone service. I guess I was wrong. Story Here

I wonder how many "some residents" who are opposed to it. Seems to me that it is a waste of time to do that work for little return. I wonder if those residents get any cell service.

Ed you're probably remembering Mink, LA. Hey, here's an idea. You can move to Normans Island, MA. I doubt they have telephone service yet and it's not too far of a move from where you live... Mink, LA...Plus

Stehekin does not have any cell service.
Down the lake from Stehekin is a Holden Village which does not have land lines or cell service, or power (except the power they generate.)
In the San Juan Islands of Washington, there are many islands without land line service. Cell service is available on some islands...sometimes the cell service is from Canadian cell providers which can cause a heart attack when the bill arrives. Just ask my employer, and this after I warned them!
I recall another pocket community in Washington that finally had land line service maybe five years ago. I don't think they had cell service either.
