Its to bad for there tech's. Last layoff we brought 2 guys in for some temp work. Sadly they only knew how to run cable and not even the proper way. They also expected more money then they were worth to our company. These guy's know no phone systems, or much telephony at all. The were good guy's and we may have been willing to train them but they both considered themselve's top of the line tech's and expected that kind of money.

hitechcomm.....I agree i have similar experiences, they are great when their doing their specific little bit of the pie with all the backup of the big bell employees & equipment.........but when someone like that has to wear all the many hats needed in small business they fail to impress.

I wonder how much of this is going to trickle down into more trunk slammers willing to pull cable for $30 a drop.

Its already been happening for the last few years, not just laid off telecoms but lay offs from other related jobs.....
Problem with what we do is that its relatively easy to start up, just think back to when you started.
and just like when i started 8 yrs ago they will be prepared to work for peanuts as they are still naive to the true cost of business.
so basically the net value of what we do gets lowered......last week i lost a phone system/cable job to a competitor doing it for my cost!!!

This is a news category.
Lets keep this to the subject of the Verizon layoffs. If someone would like to start a new topic to discuss the competition fall out from this please do so in the booth or installers categories.
