I'm in Verizon territory and have FiOS here @ home.
Unlike FiOS, which is fiber to premises, U-Verse is fiber to node & copper for the "last mile".
I'm wondering if the copper is causing the problem.

I have worked on a few Uverse Set ups in Houston and all Static on the lines i have seen have been due to the distance of the copper. If the house is farther away from the fiber stretching the copper to the "max" Distace that AT&T says that uverse will work on the more problems i see out of the voice side. Most customers have ended up dropping the voice off of the UVerse and getting a POTS line seperate and all works great after that.
On the other side the Data and TV Service work great havent seen any problems on that other than customers getting used to the interface for UVerse on their TVS.
