version: ECLIPSE 3.0.0x09 10/01/01

when a call is received from the outside, and caller dials extension #, if extension station isn't answered, station rings indefinitely. Doesn't matter if the call is transferred to VMS automatically or the caller hangs up.

Do you mean the call doesn't forward to voicemail?
Check the "g" screen programming.

No. Actually the call would forward to voice mail fine, but the station would just keep on ringing.

Today I had a technician in it, and after more testing it turned out to be a problem unique to one particular CO port... and a system reset resolved the issue for now.
