Wow...it's been a long time since I've come here to visit. I hope the bar is still open!

I STILL have this old Executone IDS228 system. I thought I could do this on my own but having a problem.

Situation: I removed a line out of the hunt from the Telco and ordered an Toll Free # and made the association. From this point, I'd like for any calls coming in from that line to be directed to a specific extension's VMB. Ideally, I would like for this same line to ring on yet another extension using one of the two line buttons. (I think I did this last part correctly -- at least the user can press the key and the correct number displays. I'm not sure if it will ring there yet because it's still in the hunt group at the moment). Here's the route I'd like to have happen:

Incoming Call >> User's Phone (distinctive and short single ring) >> Designated Ext. VMB.

The purpose of the ring for the user is only a notification. The VMB isn't for taking messages either -- just an announcement.

I hope this makes sense smile

First ID the line you are working with in the system, Call in and watch the C-screen if you aren't sure (you may have to make 2 or 3 calls to be sure you are seeing the right line) Next go to the H screen type the command L DR ### (### being the line number you identified) write down the extesions you see listed, then type L NR ### and write these down. Now go to each ext you have listed and turn day and night ring for that line off (Just that line number) Now go to the ext you want to ring turn ring on for day and night for that line only. Now go to the G- screen find the ext number you are using set busy and no answer for IC and CO to Y VMS. Be sure you set day and night (S fromt he G screen) look at the timer for the ext and set it to 5 seconds. Go to option 3 from the main menu Set up your mailbox. Now dial the ext you should get the MB you programed after 2 rings go back to the G screen and tweek the timer until you get the one ring you are looking for. Go to the A screen for the station go to K for keys and set a key to be 90## (whatever the line number is line one is 9001 line 12 is 9012 etc.) That key will show that line and will flash during the one ring you have set up
Hope this helps

Good instructions. One potential problem is,if your secondary extension is lower on the "F" screen than the primary, then the call will follow the secondary's forwarding. Instead of putting a ringing line on phone #2, try a group pickup ringing key. Put the 1st phone in a pickup group (ex.5) and then make a key on the 2nd phone 905.
