So, I have a fun one...
Has anyone ever seen a Model 18 phone MELT on any IDS system?
I got a call from a client over the weekend that had this - I picked up the phone, and the rubber feet are completely melted off the front of the phone (it was sitting on a desk) and the Executone label is only half readable. The actual case plastic is only mildly defaced, but you can tell that something bad was happening.
That port is not working now on the IDS, and I'm trying to determine if the phone failed and blew the port (in which case I'll just use a spare), or if the card is going and fried the phone.
There are no environmental considerations - this is a typical office environment, I think they'd have noticed any corrosive / dangerous fluids!
Any ideas or experience from any Executone gurus?

FYI, I believe this is an IDS 228 (I'd have to double check - it could be the 108).

Port issue. I've seen the feet on DVA's melt as they do get warm don't remember phones having a issue. I would check everything for shorts as that may have led to the issue. But if the port is bad replace the card.

Thanks so much - that was my inclination, but I was looking for confirmation - thanks!

I have seen this happen alot. I don't think it is a heat issue, I think they just break down over time. You can purchase new ones from Refurb supplies.

Agreed, those feet were made by the lowest bidder. They just melt after a few years.
If you can read this, you're in range.
