My predecessor was told that when we updated to XP she might experience problems and to consider leaving the phone software on a machine with 98. I did not know this till months after the upgrade and I have been seeing little glitches. Since I heard about this warning a day ago, I am wondering if the glitches have anything to do with upgrading to XP. Before I spend time troubleshooting in one direction I would like to know if anyone else experienced an upgrade to XP? Thanks for you thoughts, Teresa

If you are just using XP on the PC doing Session Manager to administer the phone system the only problem I ran into was dialing into the modems to administer the systems. This typically happened only on older version systems. Otherwise there were no other problems. The only other potential problem I could see is if you had a desktop integration dialing out thru your PC running XP (ie. dialiing out of ACT or Outlook via your PC connected to your phone.

I've been having trouble backing up the data for our largest building. I've been under XP since early this year and started experiencing this problem in June. One phone tech thought I was piling up corrupted data. I have been able to successfully (without knowing if the backup is 'good') back up our third largest building's phone data as recently as a day ago. And within this same time frame I have begun to get a batch of internal error dialogue boxes popping up after I have dialed in and try to use the largest building's system - it hangs, waiting for a response and appears to "time out" and then display these boxes. I've also had this odd very short single ring at ext of two of their hunt groups. I've tried troubleshooting through various scenarios. Staff give me a variety of feedback on this problem, many inconsistencies and no pattern seen. I'm ready to try a restore from some older backups...Thanks, again I am very new at this and not strong in telephonese.
