I have two sets of buildings with InterTel phones, one group also has Centrex. The buildings without Centrex can dial out to 9-1-1 the way the manual says they should. I can’t get the buildings within the Centrex to do the same. Staff must manually dial 9202*829911 to get to the 9-1-1 operator. Not something everyone may remember in an emergency. Though this is the same code we use to call a customer whose line does not accept calls from our ID blocked lines. I thought I could program in that string vs just 911 in the emergency number field but the system won’t accept an *. Any thoughts? Teresa

You can program in ARS to add the digits when someone dials 911. So someone picks up the phone and dials 911. You can program the switch to automatically use 9202 and add *829911. You program this in the dial rules..

Thanks kmn, My problem seems to be that the programming is not accepting an "*" or "'" - I don't believe it is accepting any punctuation. It also looks like it is only looking at 7 characters. If I enter the digits we use to bypass the system, it dials the first 7 characters, looking at it as phone number. Any ideas? Thanks for your time, Teresa

OK kmn, I think you've got me on to something, I just am too new at this to know exactly what my next steps should be. I am now in the ARS section and see the dial rules and dial patterns. I read that the emergency call always goes through route one. My route one says LOCAL, has three truck groups, three dial rules and one dial pattern. The dial pattern that I believe I need is not listed. I assume I add my own pattern and add that to a dial rule section. I don't understand how this works. Do I need to move local or just add my dial pattern to route group one's dial rules and that's that? I really appreciate the help, sorry I am so new at this, Teresa.
