How many IP telephones/ports does the X16 system support? Also, can you use their other digital telephones on this system? The website seems to be incredibly lacking on information about the IP capabilities of that system.

Steve, the basic system will support 16 digital stations, however you can network multiple systems together to accommodate a larger configuration.

Support of IP phones is via SIP, which utilizes third-party phones and the optional SIP module in the basic KSU.

At present, it will support up to 24 proprietary SIP phones and 8 SIP trunks. The second generation will support other SIP phone models.

Looks like it is going to be a good system for companies that don't want to spend a lot of money but want cool technology.

Can the 8 SIP trunks come from the provider making it a fully IP system?

The short answer to the question is: Yes, kind of: The X16 is a very intelligent digital switching matrix system, which has intelligence at both the server and endpoint (telephone) levels, allowing it to identify endpoints by a physical (logical) address, similar to a MAC Address, and not their extension.

The VoIP gateway card, which we are in the middle of alpha testing, will allow up to 9 SIP Trunks to be authenticated. These trunks can be accessed by either a VoIP Sip Endpoint (telephone) or by a digital telephone using one of the two media gateways.
