Excuse the ignorance guys, does the intertel axxess system require one or two pairs to bring up phone?
Basic programming pswds would be great.
Thanks

I'm a intertel rookie too...we're not supposed to post passwords..someone will probably email you some in response...I don't know any anyway. The phones take ONE pair..but it's the second pair on the jack...yellow & black on the jack... it's lame..so even though it's one pair..you need 4-conductor line cords to feed that pair.

Yea, I am also an Inter-Tel Rookie, BUT, the second pair stuff does come in handy when you are switching out an exsisting customer that is using the front pair only! I mean you can cross-connect the whole system without disturbing anything untill ' cut-over ' then, it's just a matter of unplugging the old and plugging in the new. Simple!

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel..

You can also wire a single line ext. to tip and ring and put a splitter on the jack you can plug the phone into one and a modem or fax in the other doesn't matter what side of the splitter you plug into also.

And if you are working on a system that uses a patch panel, the advice you just got from KMN will save you and the customer a great deal of time and money. Using the second pair can also save equipment when the customer tries to use something they shouldn't in the jack.

The phones run on one pair of wire at the 2 and 5 pins of a voice jack or the 3 and 6 pins of a data jack. It is polarity sensitive so if it does not come up at first, try reversing the tip and ring.
