Have connected an MP3 player to the MoH port and the sound is not great. A little static, sound fades in and out. The connection into the KSU also seems like it's very sensitive. Had to jiggle a bit to get it working.
Has anyone else had this experience or am I doing something wrong? The MP3 player is not expensive but, listening to the earbuds, it sounds fine. Should I buy a more expensive cable to connect the MP3 player?
Thanks for any feedback you can provide.

Sounds to me like you're using the wrong sized connector.

I'd have to agree. I've a couple customers using external sources with no quality problems at all.

Can't remember what the manual states, but maybe you're using a stereo plug when you need monologue.

You need a RCA type connector. Never had a problem with the X-16 MOH. I'd replace the cable.

I'm bringing this back up as I have a client that wanted external MOH as he was getting complaints about the canned music.
I connected to his external source and works OK if the caller uses a regular phone, but not if the caller uses a cell phone. We confirmed this with my cell and the client's.
Any suggestions?

Keep in mind that cell phones don't transmit music very well. I don't think it has anything to do with the system or music source. It has more to do with VoIP being used for many cell networks now.

Correct Ed, the audio and the voice frequency of anything other than a traditional phone circuit is treated different, thus you will notice it more so when music is applied to the the voice path. Diffidently no fault of the Telephone system on site.
