Client called this morning complaining that the line lights aren't flashing for incoming calls, or showing "in Use" by the other phones for the 3rd phone in a 3-phone X-16 R2.

I'm out of town until Friday, so any idea of the problem when I get back?

Make sure only 3 phones are terminated..I have heard odd things happen if there is a port terminated at the ksu but no phone on the other end...

Yes, you only hook up the sets you are using, don't leave any unused jack connected to the KSU, if this isn't the case you can also try and unplug and plug trick to reset it.

Got on site today. Phone is 2 years old, bought in 2010 but installed a year ago May.

Problem was light for line 1 would light up when THAT phone used it, but if someone else was on Line 1, it wouldn't indicate "in use". Also, lights for busy extensions would not work when in use.

No extra jacks connected to the system, just the 3 in use.

Disconnected, reconnected with no change. Did a phone reset, no change.

Swapped out the phone and it works OK now. Took that phone to another system and the problem is still there, so the phone is defective.

Client's problem, didn't reply to my MA contract offer in April....his loss. He's now considering one of the options.
