I acquired a poor condition candlestick desk set and ringer box at a swap meet. After some TLC, I may have something nice. It is only missing a receiver cap and before I can locate one, I need to confirm what it is that I actually have.
Except for the transmitter portion, the rest of the phone is identical to a one-piece 1910 Dean Electric Cosmo phone that I found on-line. My Ringer Box is also by Dean Electric Co. and the schematic inside of it says "Dean Desk Telephone."
However, the desk set transmitter labels show "Monarch Telephone Mfg. Co. Fort Dodge, Iowa" and "L225558". I understand that Monarch was only in Fort Dodge from 1912 to 1922 and none of the Monarch models I can find are of one-piece construction.
Does anyone have any idea if Monarch made a one-piece desk set like the Dean Cosmo or if a Monarch part can be mounted on a Dean Cosmo?

I don't have a clue, but I'll bet that THESE people can help you or at least point you in the right direction. They have been around forever and they know their stuff.
