I have an IP phone that has been working on our internal network. I want to assign it to a person that we just hired in another state. I changed the server address on this extension to the public IP address of the IPRC card. I opened ports 5004, 5005, 5566, and 5567 on the firewall for both tcp and udp traffic. I have the IP phone at my home. When I plug it in, it connects to our phone switch and I can generate an outbound call. The only problem is there is no audio either way when the call completes. I'm sure I've missed something silly. Any help would be appreciated.

this could be couple of things but really sounds like a NAT or Firewall issue. Is the IPRC in the DMZ at the main site? The IPRC can not be Natted, sounds like it is not, and you have the firewall ports open. You may want to expand the numbers of port from 5004 through 5080 or so. Let me know what happens.

I think we're down to a firewall issue. The card was not in the DMZ and was being natted. I physically connected the card to the DMZ but could not even get a ping reply from it. We have IP phones on our internal network as well as trying to set up an "internet" phone. While the card was in the DMZ, the internal phones couldn't communicate with it. I had to drop back and punt tonight placing the card back on our internal switch so the internal IP phones would function again (and changing the IP address on the IPRC card back to the internal address rather than the public IP). I'm still sort of a rookie on this phone system. When I called my vendor to ask questions, I was given the "you should let us set it up for external use. It's very complex" line. That really ticked me off so I'm going to battle with this until hell freezes over rather than call them. Thanks for the tip on the DMZ! Some day I'll put it back into the DMZ and try again. Another day, another time, where is that coffee...?

I gave it another shot and made it work! I was so focused on the settings for the IPRC card that I had forgotten to remove the nat rules from the firewall. Good grief! Thanks for the help!
