We ran into a problem with 3rd party SIP phones ie DECT phones that are remote from the Allworx server. Our plan was this: a) Build a router to router based VPN between sites b) Place the Allworx behind the corporate router in LAN host mode. c) Register the remote DECT phones inside the VPN tunnel
All went well except for (1) problem and as far as we can figure out, there is no way around it. SIP trunks coming in and being sent out via Follow Me do not pass RTP in either direction. All other SIP trunk calls work fine.
Our conclusion is this. Remote 3rd party phones and SIP trunking are not compatible. If anyone knows of a router that could make this work, or has found a way to implement remote DECT phones we would be glad to know about it.
