We have the Cisco UC520 and are trying to program it. We get a "missing device identifier" when we do "dir flash. When we did "show flash" it seemed to show all files, however we cannot get into the switch, it comes up in Rommon. Can someone help us please? We think the IOS image is gone, but need the command to see if it is or not. Thanks for you help.

Also we did Router#show run | inc boot, seems we should get boot-marker, then boot system flash:uc500-advipservicek9-mz.124.20.T2 and same with 124-15.T9.bin then boot end-marker. All we get is the boot start-marker and boot end-marker, does that mean our IOS image is gone. We don't want to reload if it is there. Thanks again.

trish you could probably get better help at uc500.com/ u

also cisco has a good forum on their site, thats if you can find it.. smile

unfortunatly with cisco its easier to try to get help on a random web forum than calling in a "tac" request

we have all but given up on the uc500 just too many problems like the one your having...

Not anymore.

Call 866 606-1866 for UC520/540/560 support.

I have called the support line on a WRVS4400N router but the same number will get you to a UC support engineer.

The UC requires the engineer have a level of knowledge in VoIP telephony.

There is a lot to it.
Learning the CS1000 5.5 is harder than the UC500.

It requires specialized knowledge that MOST traditional phone guys dont have.

I am a traditional phone guy BUT I dont pretend to know what I dont know.

I have gained CCNA and CCNA Voice UC500 certifications this year.

I have lived all of the thoughts, fears, and emotions that a business owner goes through as it relates to VoIP and traditional telephony.

Trust me, I know what you feel and think.

I suffered through the pain of taking on the network engineers world.

I have gained their knowledge and kept mine.
Now do you think a traditional phone guy will be obsolete? Not this one.

The winner will always be the HYBRID.

Hear more of my jibberish soon.

Correction:
UC520 is supported by TAC.

UC540/560 only requires a simple inexpensive 3 year contract for 24/7 support.

The new CCA for UC is about to be released as 3.0.
The new software release is out now.

As of January 3rd....UC540/560 will be supported via CCA only for installs after Jan 3, 2011.

The UC is a great product if you learn it.

I like the enterprise CUCM much better as most people would.
For what you get for the money...the UC cant be beat.

I like the UC540 as it has wireless built in.
Just bought one for the house so I can have multiple SSID's for DATA. Im thinking about the camera install so I can have the image show up in the display of my phone. Pretty cool.

Opinions vary on the product but I think it is really good.

I havent forgot about my old girlfriends.
Toshiba, Comdial, Avaya, Nortel, Norstar.

I still love them with all my heart but I have a new love that has captured my imagination much the way they did in the beginning.

Cisco is her name.

Think I need help? :-)

Dunno, Can I Still Call Out?

Actually, Can You Still Call Out? smile

(Sorry, could NOT resist. I may be just a LOT jealous, because I am so intimidated by IP phone systems.)

No reason to be LHorse.

Traditional phone guys have the advantage in learning them over trad... data guys.

How is that?

We understand all the features and just need to know how they are setup on the IP systems.

Dial-Peers both Voip and POTS are not hard to understand.

SIP is so easy a cave man can do it.

I didnt know anything about it until this year other than basic high level info.

Im a true hybrid now and will achieve CCVP now called CCNP Voice Jan-Feb 2011.

Jan 2010 I had zero Cisco certs.

Im not a smart man and really about C level intelligence. I got heart at A level.

Its really just another system that just takes a little longer to learn because dial peers and translation rules are new concepts.

The new concepts are not hard to understand.
Real world implementation a little harder.

Good Luck!
