Just installed a Encore CX system. It comes with a cable for v.24 interface so you can program through a laptop. I was unable to get it to connect in this manner trying 3 different laptops. Does anyone have the pinout for this cable? I was unable to locate it in the documentation provided by inter-tel and my supervisor wouldn't let me tear the one we had apart.

Strange...

I don't have a copy of the pinouts but could request (and likely obtain) it if necessary. First, please consider and answer the following items:

1. Are you using the one-piece v.24 cable that comes with the EncoreCX KSU ("CCU")? Or, are you trying to use the three-piece v.24 that comes with Inter-Tel's original Encore system released in 2001?

2. Have you confirmed the EncoreCX MPS Remote Programming Software is set for the correct PC COM port you have the v.24 cable connected to?

3. Are you plugging into the correct USOC RJ-22 modular jack on the EncoreCX KSU ("CCU")?

4. Have you confirmed the EncoreCX MPS Remote Programming S/W connection speed is set to 115200?

5. What version S/W is the EncoreCX KSU ("CCU") running?

6. What version and release is the MPS Remote Proramming S/W you are using?

7. What response do you receive after clicking "Connect"?

Please forgive the obvious nature of some of the above items. But, I often find the solution to such issues is something simple.

Are you a direct (purchase from Inter-Tel) or indirect (purchase from distributor) dealer? Are you certified on the product?

Yes we checked all of the above. The message i get upon attempting to connect is something like "the pbx timedout attempting to make a connection." This is a brand new system, we just received it from inter-tel yesterday morning. None of our technicians are currently certified on the Encore only the Axxess.

***also I'm not sure how to check the software on the system. I belive it would be the latest since it is a new system.

Which version of the EncoreCX MPS Database Proramming Software are you using? The end-user version on the CD that comes with the KSU or do you have a copy of the technician's version (either on CD or perhaps downloaded from Inter-Tel's website)?

It was the version on the CD that came with the system... Anyhow they let us tear it apart today, turns out the RJ11 was bad...

What do you guys think about the CX system? Don't be shy. Also, it seems like we have the best luck with Dell laptop internal modems for connections.

This was the first one I've worked on. And short of the Bad v.24 cable I liked it. It was simple to program through the sets themselves.
And even easier once we got the GUI interface working. Hopefully we'll be install more of these for our smaller customers.
