Does anyone know of an industrial strength wireless analog line extender with a wireless telephone that has a data port? A customer with a large industrial building (~75,000 sq. feet) is looking to have a wireless line to be used with modems installed in large industrial machines. At this point they are dragging telephone cords all over the building to get to the machine that needs the line. Thanks!

I have never seen a cordless phone with a data port on it instead of the base but here is a link to a wireless modem

Have you talked to local offices of T-Mobile, Sprint, (please not Cingular), and see if they offer a device.

I've seen many people at events with credit card machines hooked up to cell phones and I think either Verizon or Sprint (what do I know, I have T-Mobile) have wireless cards for computers so maybe there is something there.

That would give you the coverage and 15-30 days testing depending on your state before a contract becomes final.

Wayne has an idea with the modem; you would have to be sure a cordless phone could go that far as both a phone and the cordless are in the 2.4 MHz bandwidth and the FCC puts a limit on distance to avoid interfering with your "neighbor's" phone on 2.4 MHz.

Engenius has phones that would work that far but no modems. You might go to www.engeniustech.com and ask them if they have any ideas.

Be careful with a company who looks as if they only accept pay pal and doesn't list an address on their site. They do show a phone # 707-703-1479
but Google doesn't show any information on it.
It looks to me like their hiding something...Like who they are and in business..that's scary.

I have heard of them. Teledynamics in Austin, TX used to carry their stuff in their catalog. It was way expensive though.

I noticed the model numbers start with SN and the brand "Senao" on it. This is the manufacturer of "Engenius."

When I first started researching long range cordless phones back 10 years ago, Senao was the unit I bought and tried. It was sort of a gray area. It was legal to sell and own but illegal to use. It wasn't approved for use in Canada at all and not in the U.S. with the external antenna (if memory serves me correct).

My understanding is that they eventually brought the product to North America, made the necessary FCC/DOC changes, and branded it "Engenius."

Makes me wonder why this product still carries the "Senao" logo?
