I have a slight issue... more of an annoyance than an issue. Using the default factory installed sms messaging program on my Ally, I sometimes get double text messages recieved from some people and apparently send double as well. Does anyone else have this issue? Does anyone know how to fix it?

I do have the same issue with recieving double with one other person that I know of. Since it is only one person, I kind of wrote it off as just that person tryin to annoy me. (BTW, that one person is my ex and the mother of my children.) Funny, I have intentionally sent her double text messages at times, you know, to make a point.
I use the HTC Incredible.

Interesting. I did a little bit of research on it and apparently it spans across the whole droid phone list, some more common than others. A few people seem to think it has to do with how the person's contact info is entered into your phone, as in how their name is listed. (Last, First... First Last... etc...) No one seems to have a clear working fix for it though.

I have this issue sometimes when my daughter texts me. She uses a Droid X and I have a Droid 2, and only to me from her and not all the time. VZW "hasn't heard of any issues like this". However, I tend to think they wouldn't tell the customers anyway. The only thing I have found to stop this is to reboot the phone and the issue will go away for a while, but no consistancy.

Verizon says they've never heard of it, but you find it splashed across the forums. Who to believe? LOL.
I've never come across anything like that on my Droid (Motorola Backflip, custom Android image, AT&T service). But I can see how a Motoblur setting--if you have that--could create duplicate data.
I'm happy to dig for you if you come up empty-handed. I've not heard of the Ally; how do you like it?
And I'm very suprised to hear this happening between Droid X and Droid 2 (that's actually what's going to drive me on this one).

Ive had double messages come in from time to time but I just chalk it up as network errors of some kind. It doesn't happen very often so it doesn't really bother me.
