I use PDA net, it was a free app download, there is a small software piece that installs on the PC, it works quite well for downloading a manual, files, etc. I use this on the Droid X with Verizon as well.

PdaNet 3.02 is the bomb. Write back if your provider/phone disallows the installation--there is a workaround. You CAN get it installed...no matter what.
And if you do have it installed and:
1. Are cheap as hell like me 2. Need to access secure websites (disallowed in the free version)
Then post back and I'll give you THAT workaround.
