I've got a SLC that has a few ports that no longer ring in to their routing destination. I've determined that there's an issue with the SLC and have a replacement on hand. Am I correct in expecting that the SLC is 'dumb' and gets all of it's programming information from the CPC? The thought is, in this perfect world that I live in, I can just swap the card and test to verify functionality. Am I sniffing glue or is it really that simple? Thanks in advance!

I should mention that it's going from an 8 port to an 8 port. Everything I've read in the installation manual for my system has me thinking it's that easy. I'm on ver 9.x

Thx,
CH

You are correct. The SLC is 'dumb' and is hot-swappable. You can just swap out the board and "hopefully" be back in business.

FYI - There are two ring generators that can and do sometimes go bad on those cards. One controls the 1st 4 ports and the other the 2nd 4 ports.

Nice. Thanks for the confirmation. I'll just plug and pray, after hours, and see where I'm at thereafter. I'm not ballsey enough to hot-swap that little critter. Funny you should mention that ring generator issue, as that's where my little brain was taking me. It's the second set of ports that aren't ringing. I appreciate your help, Stix!
