I have a VB-42020 (DBS616) and the programming manual for it. It supports both key telephones and single line telephones, but has a setting (PSD 3, item 13) to toggle extensions between hybrid/dual port operation. There is a note that this item "can only be set using the POWER SETTING, See page 7 in this manual for instructions". I've read page 7 and don't understand. It says:

From the darkest bowels of my mind, I remember shutting off the KSU after hitting # then waiting a few seconds and turning the thing back on. But that's been almost 30 years ago. Never put in many of these, the 824 was more robust.
