I have an NEC Elite 48 system with display phones. On one phone, the voicemail used to answer calls after 4 rings. Mysteriously now, it just rings and rings. However, the operator can still transfer calls directly into the voicemail box and that works fine. I've done the best I can by reviewing transfer and delivery options and those seem right. All I can figure is the user accidently changed a setting or programming. I did reset the mailbox as new new without any change. No one has touched the system in years.
FYI: I am a business owner and not a telephone programmer. However I know enough to try and fix things myself. I have used co-session - about 4 yrs ago. Thanks in advance for any help.

Think I figured it out - the Call Forward Busy setting must have been turned off. User must have tried to dial a 44..... phone number before getting a dial tone. I dialed 43 and then entered the VM dialing number of 300.

I recommend changing the CF codes to something involving a *#2#* or something similarly difficult to fat-finger.

We learned from experience about 20 years ago not to have numeric only service codes and to change the first digit to * or #..

Currently having the same problem as RickElite48 with NEC Electra Elite IPK with voicemail. Although there are several extensions that the voicemail no longer picks up. Went to two ext. and did the 44 and the 43 to 300. When dialing the one ext. that was having the problem, after the correction it rings back to the operator ????? The other ext. still does not go to voice mail. Also would someone help me please I cannot remember how to access the transaction boxes and do not remember if this can only be done on site on an extension attached to the phone system or can I change transaction boxes and access them remotely? Also, when changing the day greeting, it does not erase the existing recorded greeting so when you call it plays the old first and then new. If there is another transaction box I need to find it to erase the greeting.

Do other extensions go to voicemail? Watch the display and make sure that 300 is really the pilot number. And make sure that the extensions really have mailboxes.
Access transaction boxes by logging into the owner mailbox, selecting "leave a message" and then select the owner mailbox number.
