If an extension is a part of a ring group for incoming calls and the user forwards this extension do the incoming calls also forward? The manual states ring groups do not follow call forwarding, so I am assuming the incoming calls will not forward.

Incoming calls to the ring group that phone is a part of will ring that phone and will NOT forward.
Transferred calls to that station, DIL calls to that stations and DID calls to that station WILL forward.

That's what I thought.....with that being said, here is the situation. Customer currently has copper trunks on a Comdial. Incoming calls ring three phones and ring over the paging system via a V-9936A 6 line CO audible ring unit. Upgrading to an SV8100 with a PRI. Set DID translation table for main number with no target number so transfer target 1 set for ring group 1 would handle the incoming call. Included in ring group 1 would be an analog port to activate the V-9936A. This should take care of ring over page and ringing multiple phones. Now the customer states that at times the three phones that ring will be forwarded (not all at the same time) to different phones so incoming calls will still be answered. So now, the customer wants incoming calls to ring 3 phones, ring over the paging system and allow for any of the 3 phones to be forwarded so outside calls will be answered at the target phone(s). I'm not quite sure if all this can be accomplished.

The only system I know of that can do this easily is Tadiran. Ring groups are a different beast when it pertains to call forward conditions on the NEC. I suppose one way would be to run SIP clients on smart phones so all they would have to do is log into the software when they wanted to answer calls. Just add the sip extensions to the ring group and done.

Disregarding the ring over page, the main number is pointed at a virtual. The virtual appears and rings on 3 phones. The user of one of those phones forwards their phone to another phone where the virtual does not appear. Will calls to the main number forward?

Depending on how may phones are involved you may have to use different ring modes for this.
