Hello, We've got a CIX 40 with a GVPH and have the fax detection turned on (hot_box 994 and userID 994 forwards calls to our fax). We're getting a lot of junk faxes coming through and they all come in to our publicly published number. We have no need for this number to receive faxes and I'm wondering if there is a way to set the fax detect to only work on one CO line. That way we could set it to another number and not get the garbage.
Thanks for any thoughts.

Not possible on a GVPH. I'd suggest sending the fax detect to mailbox 999 which would simply hang up on the junk fax. Take the line that you do want to use for faxes and connect it to a device like The Stick from faxswitch.com. The Stick will determine if the incoming call is a fax or voice call and will send it back to the CIX or to the fax machine.

Rats. We had one of those things and from what I recall, The Stick messes with our phone company forwarding - CO sees the line was picked up and stops forward-on-no-answer from occurring. But actually now that I think more about it, that was only important with our old partner system with no auto attendant. It's not so important now with the Toshiba and we might be able to use one of those again. Thanks for the idea.
