I work for a telecommunications company and we provide residential and business video, internet, and telephone services.
Our system works off 1 or 2 VOIP devices that can then be connected to a standard telephone, and is compatible, and working, with many other types of PBX and KSU type switches, plus compatibility with many in-house VOIP services as well, as we simply provide a dialtone to the equipment.
There are a few cases where our services are simply incompatible.
I am attempting to determine whether the equipment one of our potential customers has, is likely to be one the few that do not work.
Normally, we just have the customer contact their current provider, but the problem is, this device existed when this customer bought the property, and never has done anything to it.
It's a Comdial Unisyn system. They have 4 external lines, do not need to dial 9 to get to an outside line, but they have hold music. If they have separate extensions for all the phones, then they are not aware of them.
I could not find a model number on the device, but there was an installation or service tag, with the date of Nov 1997 on it. The company in question has only been in the building since 2005.
Is this system more likely to work.. or more likely to not work? Or is there simply not enough information here to make that determination?
I normally would simply tell the customer that until they could determine whether the device would work, they'd be best to not switch to our system.. But I have a personal connection to both the owner of the place, and several of the employees. (Previously employed by the location, and I believe in the product I'm attempting to get them to switch to, as well)
I would appreciate any information.
