Hi Guys

I'm an NEC tech that has been tasked with connecting to a Panasonic TVM50. the problem is, with inband signalling all the NEC can do is send the extension number the call was destined for via DTMF tones. when someone dials in to get messages the system won't send any info. The tech I'm working with has never tried to interface with an NEC so my question is, has anyone here done this and can you help with the TVM settings.

Many thanks in advance.

R4

use trace in the TVA or a digit trapper to see what the NEC sends in different conditions.
Then modify TVA DTMF expectations.

Wow. Asking on two or more forums now? WHICH NEC SYSTEM and did you set the port for VM?

And, just in passing, fix your profile. You are not in the U.S., so I'm guessing Canada.

Two ways to make third party VM work

1. Have phone system send what VM needs.

2. Have VM set for what phone system sends by default.

For anyone here to help you, need WHAT NEC system you have?

Ok

The system is a NEAX 2000 IVS2

The question is on 3 forums

A bit further afield than Canada! I'm in Oz

However the system is truly dumb when using inband signalling. All it will send is the dialed number on a call to the voicemail pilot or the original destination number for a forwarded call! There are no other signals at all as the system normally uses either MCI via serial connection or Protims which is the proprietary NEC signalling protocol.

I do not know that system. This should be moved to the NEC forum.
If you can't change what the system sends, and that's all it sends as you have checked, I would say your out of luck.
One would think there is a place in programming to set up DTMF integration.
The TVA has no serial integration.
Someone on NEC forum would know.

I vaguely remember only two systems that used serial integration that didn't cost an arm and a leg. One was the PanaVoice and the other was an Amanda. Probably Key Voice makes one, and it's a function of key codes that turn on the serial port.

Expect to pay a whole lot more than the price of a two-port TVM50. Outside of that, they'll have to learn to use #6 *ext
sequences to check in.
