If I want to assign a sidecar key to a voicemail box, to bypass sending to a phone I know ins't being answered, what codes would I enter?

Not sure what you are trying to do? If you don't want a voice mail box to transfer to a extension? If so then make sure after you add the mailbox go back to the extension field and delete the extension that is in there. Go back to the field and hit F1 key to remove extension number and save the mail box again. That tells the system there is no extension associated with the mailbox. And if someone dials that extension number from a CCR I do believe it just sends caller to the mailbox. (Intelligent transfer)
Now if you are talking about the feature where another extension it to be notified of a voice mail message left in a mailbox other that it's own you subcode the voice mail key on the extension(s) that you want to monitor that mailbox. I.E. 830 key with a subcode of the mailbox number (XXXX)

I probably didn't explain myself well...
So here is what I want to go.... In the "Key" definition fields on the extension setup, I want to assign a "Key" when pressed to just forward the incoming call directly to the VM box of a user. I know I can just enter their extension and it will roll to their extension, and I know I can enter 830 to roll it to voicemail, but I want to send it to a "specific" mailbox number without further key pressing...
Is this possible?

The transfer feature to a mailbox number is as follows. Hit Trans/Con key dial 77 then mailbox number. Caller is transferred to the mailbox users greeting.
Guess you could try to program a station speed dial bin to dial the 77XXXX but not sure if it will work on internal call. I.E. would it dial after you hit Trans/Con then the Speed dial button? Never tried using them for internal dialing. And suspect they may not work for that.
The 830 key with a sub code of a mailbox number just gives you access to that mailbox. I.E. when you press it it's going to ask you for a the password of the mailbox. It was just so other users could see if messages were in a mailbox they were to monitor.
Question/Suggestion If no one is at the extension you are transferring caller to just forward it to voice mail. Then when you hit a DSS key that is programmed to call that extension it will transfer caller to that phone and of course it's forwarded and caller will end up in mailbox.
Does any of that info help?
