I need to send a POTS line across a road. There is no possible route for a wire. There are no poles handy, and the road is a state highway that is 100' wide.
I can't bootleg and head-to-head two F2 pairs because the two buildings are fed from two different crossboxes.
I can't use a cordless phone, because I need to feed the line into a key system line appearance so that all the stations can pick it up. I can't use an IP-based solution, because this will be used when the net is down.
Is there a radio or LAN solution?
Does anyone make a cordless product that offers an RJ11 at the distant end?
Does anyone want to invent a solution and make a million bucks?

I have used basic wireless bridge and Multitech VOIP boxes for many locations like that.

From their site:
"A typical trenching job would cost $3,500 to get started and average $200/hr in operations costs thereafter. At a fraction of the cost, the ZipLink could be installed and running in few hours."
They fail to mention that their idea of "a fraction" is close to 50/100. Their prices are steep if one is only interested in transporting one POTS line. The savings accrue, apparently, when many lines are sent over many miles.
But......Thank you for the link!

But......Thank you for the link! Unfortunately in your case you need to figure the cost of trenching across a State Highway which could get quite pricey! If the State will even allow it.

I wonder how they calculate the "$200 per hour operations costs".
For that amount, I'd hire a Pony Express rider, and have enough left over for a trip to Havana.

I thought the same thing, but I get the impression that they are implying that it would cost $3.5K to mobilize such a project and then $200/hr. for the work to be done. Granted, that sounds a bit steep, but not entirely unrealistic based upon project conditions. There's likely a bit of a sales spin on this, as I'm sure that you can imagine.
