New customer called. Purchased new phones online and they aren't working with system. Told to call me by an AT&T tech.
Here's their setup. They've a DSU I G0816 with a 20A Software cartridge. Six Impression phones (no VM). There is a 408 module. 3 lines into the system.
When they tried swapping the Impression phone for the Impact 8012 phone, it does not work. No display/lights. When the customer put the impression back onto the port/jack, it would no longer work. They tried power cycling the system (off for 5 min) and the port remained inactive.
I'm heading back tomorrow and plan on backing up and Master Clearing the system... but is there any chance that the ports are actually dead? I thought you needed at least 18A to use the 8012/24 phones?

It's possible they have Impression software, not Impact software. You can probably find Impact software.
Going back to the original setup, though, why did they change from the Impression phones to the Impact phones? How did they end up with both?

Yep it sounds like the customer has Impression software. I have Impact software available.

I was able to get into the system today. Impression software. Told them what their choices were... I'll PM if they actually decide to upgrade the software.

Perfect example of what happens when customers try to buy things on line themselves.
